Basics of Coordinate Metrology Unit 14: Basics of Quality Management - Measurement
Reports
|
Step 5 of 10 Next |
One of the fundamental quality management methods is an extensive and reproducible documentation. For the metrologist, this means:
- Measurement reports must be complete. Complete means that all measured elements and not only the overall results have been printed. The position of the part on the coordinate measuring machine, the styli used, the qualification process of the styli, the time, the measuring machine operator and the coordinate measuring machine used must be written down.
- Measurement reports must be neat. Neat means that the
report must be written legibly and clearly organized.
- Measurement reports must be reproducible. Reproducible means that in case of disagreements it must be possible to find out where the deviation comes from by referring to the measurement
report. Moreover, it must be possible to repeat the measurement under identical conditions using the information
from the measurement report.
- Measurement reports must be unambiguous. This means that the data in the measurement
report must not contain any contradictions.
