Basics of Coordinate Metrology
Unit 13:  Accuracy - Manufacturing Processes

Step 3 of 8
  Next

An effect on the accuracy of the measuring result is caused by manufacturing deviations of the part.

The most important manufacturing processes in mechanical engineering can be divided (as described in DIN 8580) into four basic types:

Primary forming
Forming
Cutting
Joining

Primary forming includes casting, melting and pressing.

Forming includes, compression molding, drawing, rolling.

Parting includes the metal-cutting manufacturing processes such as turning, drilling, milling, sawing, filing, ...

Joining includes, for example, pressing, folding and welding.
