An
indispensable prerequisite of industrial production is the capability of
measuring and thus also testing the properties of
parts.
Most
products, especially in the metal-processing industry, are nowadays
series products assembled from single parts.
Every
single part, every screw, every bolt must be replaceable with a
suitable spare part. This is why industrial production is not possible
without metrology.
In
particular coordinate metrology (owing to its three-dimensional
measurement, also called 3-D coordinate metrology) is used for the
precise measurement of geometric quantities (length, distance, angle,
etc.) of the finished products.
At this
self-teaching station, coordinate metrology, its Basics, its
areas of application and the measurement using coordinate measuring
machines are described in detail.
